The turkeys sure aren't thankful for this mockery of a holiday, despite two being given pardons by Obama while the rest live miserable lives only to be slaughtered as a symbol of the alleged favor of God on this sinful petty pathetic nation. Are Americans thankful to the Native Americans that they shared this great land with us or are they just thankful the Indians are gone and forgotten so they can revel in their gluttony and self absorption?
It is a nice concept, giving thanks to God for blessings on this country and thanks to those who helped us to survive such as the Native Americans who taught the pilgrims how to plant corn and other crops. Are people going to reflect on that this year and give thanks to God and show love for their neighbors? I sort of don't think that many will.
Then you have Black Friday Christmas shopping starting at midnight so people can gear up for the next ridiculous holiday. Instead of a factory farm bird being the center of attention, it is slave labor produced toys for Christmas. All of these holidays seem to worship the corporate interest any more, more than anything.
Wouldn't it be funny if they changed Thanksgiving Day to Native American Remembrance Day or Praise the Lord Day? I wonder how many would celebrate it then if they had to take those meanings seriously. I wonder if they would want a day that isn't devoted to corny Christmas floats, popping fresh rolls, and chemical juice infused turkeys?
The whole idea of Thanksgiving was that the pilgrims scrounged up what food they had and were thankful for it. Then they invited their neighbors to share in it as a way of honoring them for their help. So you don't need the traditional menu, you just need what you can get and who you can get and be glad for it. On the other hand, you can just ignore it all and not be a hypocrite.
Save a turkey. Boycott Thanksgiving.

Oh and the article has useful information about what kind of animal you are actually eating. It is not the cute turkey that you see in pictures for Thanksgiving, but a sickly bird bread to die within a year of growing up. It is bread to have lots of white breast meat, but can barely walk and not even fly. You are eating crippled tortured birds. Does that make you feel happy and wholesome?
Not to mention the corny history gone awry of Thanksgiving. Check this out for more intormation: http://www.alternet.org/news/148991/no_thanks_to_thanksgiving

This one time, my dog got into a fight with a wild turkey. After he ate it he fell asleep happily..

You don't see the pretty wild turkeys walking around any more. There are big black birds that waddle around that people think are turkeys, but I think they might really be vultures. I think most of the wild turkeys were probably killed off long ago. We get plenty of Canadian geese, which people are so sick of that they started to leave poison out for them in the parks. I suppose those would taste like wild goose, but no one is interested in eating them, just in killing them.
I have seen wild quail a few times. Those are pretty but also pretty rare. I haven't seen one lately either. There was reportedly a wild turkey living at a Jersey City toll booth off the Turnpike. Workers were afraid it would scratch their car paint after seeing it resting on their car roofs. They had it captured and removed somewhere.
I have already had bird poop destroy the paint on the roof of my car, so what difference would a resting turkey make?

I'm surprised that their isn't a movie about turkey repression yet. They made chickens, why not turkey?

If you saw the living conditions of a modern factory raised turkey, you would probably have a nervous breakdown and never eat it again. I remember seeing the fat white turkeys waddling around all bunched together inside a wire cage on the grass outside their house when I was a kid. I wan't even happy about that sight. Places like that are long gone now; something like that would probably be called free range today, as if it were some special method. Anything that was tortured and raised to be sick can't be healthy for you. You can go to the PETA website and look it up if you dare.
People only give thanks once a year, then be glad for Jesus's birth once a year and celebrate his death and resurrection once a year? I thought God was a constant thing, not just a here and there thing. It seems more like pagan rites to demons. Birth, death and resurrection celebrations sound like the pagan rites for the changing of the seasons. Thanksgiving might just be a form of a harvest festival with a turkey sacrifice. What a holy nation the USA is. Holy as to what religion is the question.
But it is all about the family, you know . . . Family together time.

Maybe it is like the Matrix. Turkey tastes like chicken? All because it's programmed to! And there are those who escaped from the Matrix. Neo, you are not to eat turkey! Neither you either Morpheus and Trinity. If you even think about eating turkey, the matrix will getcha quicker than an agent to a hacker convention!

Did you ever try to cook a raw turkey? It is so depressing, it feels like you are holding a dead body. Beans taste so much better, and they are GUILT FREE!
You can make pinto beans taste like turkey with a few spices and mashing and cooking down. They are even brown like dark meat. Yum.

The only kind of raw turkey I don't cook is lunchmeat. The cook is the best part.
