Well if there was any doubt that he was a muslim before...............here you go

WASHINGTON – After skirting the controversy for weeks, President Barack Obama is weighing in forcefully on the mosque near ground zero, saying a nation built on religious freedom must allow it.

"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country," Obama told an intently listening crowd gathered at the White House Friday evening to observe the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."

The White House had not previously taken a stand on the mosque, which would be part of a $100 million Islamic community center two blocks from where nearly 3,000 people perished when hijacked jetliners slammed into the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Press secretary Robert Gibbs had insisted it was a local matter.

It was already much more than that, sparking debate around the country as top Republicans including Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich announced their opposition. So did the Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights group.

Obama elevated it to a presidential issue Friday without equivocation.

While insisting that the place where the twin towers once stood was indeed "hallowed ground," Obama said that the proper way to honor it was to apply American values.

Harkening back to earlier times when the building of synagogues or Catholic churches also met with opposition, Obama said: "Time and again, the American people have demonstrated that we can work through these issues, and stay true to our core values and emerge stronger for it. So it must be and will be today."

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an independent who has been a strong supporter of the mosque, welcomed Obama's words as a "clarion defense of the freedom of religion."

But some victims' advocates and Republicans were quick to pounce.

"Barack Obama has abandoned America at the place where America's heart was broken nine years ago, and where her true values were on display for all to see," said Debra Burlingame, a spokeswoman for some Sept. 11 victims' families and the sister of one of the pilots killed in the attacks.

Building the mosque at ground zero, she said, "is a deliberately provocative act that will precipitate more bloodshed in the name of Allah."

Added Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.: "President Obama is wrong. It is insensitive and uncaring for the Muslim community to build a mosque in the shadow of ground zero."

Entering the highly charged election-year debate, Obama surely knew that his words would not only make headlines in the U.S. but be heard by Muslims worldwide. The president has made it a point to reach out to the global Muslim community, and the over 100 guests at Friday's dinner in the State Dining Room included ambassadors and officials from numerous nations where Islam is observed, including Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

While his pronouncement concerning the mosque might find favor in the Muslim world, Obama's stance runs counter to the opinions of the majority of Americans, according to polls. A CNN/Opinion Research poll released this week found that nearly 70 percent of Americans opposed the mosque plan while just 29 percent approved. A number of Democratic politicians have shied away from the controversy.

Opponents, including some Sept. 11 victims' relatives, see the prospect of a mosque so near the destroyed trade center as an insult to the memory of those killed by Islamic terrorists in the 2001 attacks.

Let's be clear... this is a victory mosque for the muslim jihadists. PERIOD! Just like you see a mosque (Dome of the rock) built on top of where the temple once stood in Jerusalem. When muslims invade, they destroy all signs of differing religions and install their own version of pious hate filled rhetorical babble and you must submit or you will be without your head. Also, let's clear up something else here... this is not a "free" country. There is only the illusion of freedom. If the KKK wanted to build a "community center" anywhere in NYC we all know what the answer would be and rightly so. This Mosque is seen as a celebration of the victory won on 9/11 to the muslim world.

When I saw two articles on this in my local paper this morning, i was so shocked and depressed that I didn't read them.  Obama would say this, but it is still shocking that a president of our country would let our enemies build a tower of victory over the spot where thousands of Americans were killed in their act of war.

It is like we don't have a presdient, we merely have an enemy posing as a president in the white house.  It is so beyond disgusting.  He is not representing America or Americans at all.  He is serving the worldwide Muslim community and unabashedly.

I would sooner let the Klan build a clubhouse there, believe me.  They are a pack of clowns compared to these Muslim dominionists.  There are Hell's Angel Clubhouses and all sorts of weird places in NYC.  This just goes too, too far.  It is an act of conquest, plain and simple.

At least the Klan supports America and a form of Christianity.  At least they get arrested when they kill people.  The Muslims get carte blanche to judge and abuse and kill whoever they deem not a part of their clique.  They are conquerers to the utmost.

There is a lawsuit against this mosque submitted by Jay Sekulow of some Christian law center backed by televangelist Pat Robertson.  It might work.  Pat is a lawyer as well and so is his son.  Pam Gellar just fought the MTA, NYC transit authority, to get her 911 vs mosque ads allowed on NYC busses, and she won.  Once she filed suit, the MTA backed down and let her put up the original design.  She is really great.

Clinton was impeached for his sex scandal, but that doesn't remove someone from office.  That just says that they were bad.  We might as well have Ayotollah Khomeni in the White House.  He is pure anti-American.  He thinks life is a big joke or something.

He thinks he can just hand stuff over to people and it doesn't matter what happens to the rest of us.  They enjoy themselves going to Spain and eating hamburgers all over, while problems keep worsening.

He came to NJ to eat a sub in some obscure deli in Edison.  He didn't eat the sub in front of them even.  He sat in there and said how he was going to have initiatives to help small businesses expand so they can survive, while the owners of this shop were doing well and didn't want to expand.

He flew like thirty miles out of his way by helicpter, just to get a sub that no one saw him eat, and peddle an agenda to people who don't want it.  It is just weird.

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law "respecting an establishment of religion", impeding the free exercise of religion, infringing on the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

This is what America stands for.  And for all to enjoy!

And it is not shame on Obama.  I comend Obama and all that up hold the First Amendment to the United States Constitution!

Obviously it is going to kill us to have this mosque and allow this type of behavior, so we can't do it.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

That is the first ammendment.  It refers to Congress, not to states or to local zoning.  If we allow them to overpromote their Islamic religion, then our relgious rights will be threatened and demolished.  WE have to protect our rights first; this is our country, not theirs.  The purpose of this country is to spread and promote Christian values, not compromise with the world.

They don't need rights in our country.  We do.  We sure won't get any rights in their countries.

Local zoning is controlled by the Fed, State and Local GOVERNMENT!!!

And if they are here legally they get the same treatment as you Barbara!

You are nuts.  How could local zoning be controlled by the Federal government?  They would never get any other work done.  You don't write to Washington D. C. if you want to put up a shed in your yard; you go to your town hall.

As far as being here legally, they are financing the damn thing with terrorist backed petrol dollars from Saudi Arabia.  If they take over this country, the only flying in meditation that you will be doing will be on an exploding carpet.

The ARE zoning and controls at all levels of Government.   Here are some.

And when it makes it way the Supreme Court what do you think they would use to measure against.

Also your name calling is not necessary.

You are a religious hater!  I am sure God is happy that you hate his children?  I am sad that this is the person you are.

I do not like that any people get killed over any reason.

Bit of a contradiction there, wouldn't you say, Jay?

I could have said your opinion is nuts if that makes you feel better.  It just takes longer to write.  Nothing makes its way to the Supreme Court unless there is a proven and judicially recognized and agreed upon violation of proper procedure.  I seriously doubt that there is any reason for this mosque to petition the Supreme Court over anything.

They can't even build the mosque, because Con-Edison is currently leasing the property for a substation and hasn't set a price they would accept yet.  Not to mention that historically significant architecture is being destroyed, when similar structures by the same man are being preserved nearby.  Not to mention that this mosque is being funded by subversive, avowed haters of this nation.

There is already a lawsuit against this mosque for dishonoring the memory of 911 victims.  It is a fatal stab at the heart of this nation in a symbolic sense.  It is their symbolic banner of conquest being planted over the dead bodies of people who they wished to see dead and a nation they wish to see submitted to their way of life.

Treason is a far worse crime than breaking a zoning ordinance.  Treason is punishable by death.  Whoever supports this mosque is either a traitor or comepletely stupid.

Also your link is for Title 43--Public Lands.  The mosque property is not public land you nitwit.  It is owned by the mosque already.

If I call you an uninformed fool instead of a nitwit, is that fair game?  I hear you calling people fool all the time.

From www.Atlasshrugs.com:

John Boehner, the Ohio Republican who is the House minority leader, said: ”The decision to build this mosque so close to the site of ground zero is deeply troubling, as is the president’s decision to endorse it.”

“The American people certainly don’t support it,” Mr. Boehner said.

Representative Peter King, a New York Republican, said that while the Muslim community has the right to build the mosque, doing so needlessly offends too many people.

“President Obama is wrong,” Mr. King said. “It is insensitive and uncaring for the Muslim community to build a mosque in the shadow of ground zero. While the Muslim community has the right to build the mosque they are abusing that right by needlessly offending so many people who have suffered so much. The right and moral thing for President Obama to have done was to urge Muslim leaders to respect the families of those who died and move their mosque away from Ground Zero. Unfortunately the president caved into political correctness."

Newt Gingrich, the former House Speaker, also condemned the proposed mosque and the President’s comments.

“There is nothing surprising in the president’s continued pandering to radical Islam,” he said. “What he said last night is untrue and in accurate. The fact is this is not about religious liberty.”

Mr. Gingrich said the proposed mosque would be a symbol of Muslim “triumphalism” and that building the mosque near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks “would be like putting a Nazi sign next to the Holocaust Museum.”

“It’s profoundly and terribly wrong,” he said.

All this drama over a myth that Muslims were responsible for 9/11.

If the truth were broadcast, this would cease to be an issue.
